Topic 1: The Big Deal about Small Talk

 

Synopsis:

This workshop will help you define the concept of “small talk” and explain the role it plays in achieving academic success. You will also learn how to distinguish between culturally appropriate and culturally inappropriate small talk topics. By the end of the workshop, you will be able to spontaneously start, maintain and tactfully finish small talk conversations. You will have opportunities to practice skills by interacting with fellow students during the workshop.
