Elizabeth Ramsay Carroll

 

A native of Champaign, Elizabeth began her work with international students in 2007 when she volunteered in local high schools with students in ESL classes. While earning her undergraduate degree, she studied in Costa Rica, where she taught free English classes for local children. She completed her Bachelor's from UIUC in 2011 with a major in Spanish and a minor in education. She taught high school Spanish briefly before returning to complete her Master's of Teaching ESL from UIUC in 2013. During that time she taught in the ESL Writing Courses and at Urbana Adult Education. She is now a lecturer in the ESL Writing Courses and ITA (International Teaching Assistant) courses. Her focus is on educating international students about the culture of education in the US, and working with faculty to help them better meet the needs of their students.  In her free time she enjoys traveling, architecture, and cooking.

 

 

 

Leyla Lambert

 

Leyla Lambert earned her Master’s degree in TESL from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has been teaching academic writing, speaking, business English and presentation skills for over 10 years both in the US and overseas. In addition, she worked on literacy skills with native and non-native speakers of English with learning disabilities, in particular dyslexia. Leyla holds the Peter Stevens Award for Academic Excellence in the MATESL program and an Online Master Teacher certificate.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

John Kotnarowski

 

John Kotnarowski has been teaching English to speakers of other languages for the last seven years. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 2007 with BA degrees in History in Philosophy, Mr. Kotnarowski worked in a variety of capacities, including EFL instructor and program sub-coordinator, for el Centro de Educación Continua de la Escuela Politécnica Nacional (CEC-EPN), a university language program in Quito, Ecuador from 2008-2012. He is a graduate of the UIUC MATESL program and recently completed a State Department sponsored English Language Fellowship at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST MISiS) in Moscow, Russia. Within the greater fields of ESL/EFL and applied linguistics, his primary areas of interest include CALL, EAP/ESP writing, classroom language assessment and exploring the role of motivation in language learning.
